Alessio Antonioli

Recognized among the UK’s most impactful art leaders, Alessio Antonioli has shaped the landscape of international artist residencies and cultural exchange. He served as the Director of Gasworks in London for over 25 years, where he nurtured emerging artists through residencies, exhibitions, and participatory programs. Under his leadership, Gasworks became a vital platform for experimental practices and global dialogue.

Antonioli also leads the Triangle Network, a worldwide consortium of over 20 artist-run spaces across the world. His work continues to foster long-term connections between artists, curators, and institutions across continents, with a particular focus on the Global South. Through his dual roles, he has championed equity, experimentation, and meaningful collaboration in contemporary art. Alongside this, in 2022, he was appointed Curator at Fondazione Memmo, Rome, where he commissions new work by international artists including Sin Wai Kin, Wynnie Mynerva,  Anthea Hamilton, and Portia Zvavahera. In 2025, he co-founded Cultural Strategies Group (CSG), a consulting organisation working with public and private art institutions across the world, offering support with planning, strategic development, and programming.

We are honored to welcome Alessio Antonioli as the first guest of our Exchange Program at Badiyeh Arts, in partnership with Triangle Network—marking the beginning of a series of encounters rooted in curiosity, care, and cross-cultural connection.
