Exchanges
The Exchange Program at Badiyeh Arts fosters space for dialogue, discovery, and lasting connections. We invite art professionals, curators, and cultural organizers for short-term residencies that encourage collaboration through studio conversations, public talks, shared experiences, and sustained engagement within New York’s art ecosystem.
Each exchange is intentional—rooted in care, curiosity, and mutual learning. By facilitating direct and meaningful encounters, we create connections between contexts and encourage collaboration across geographies and disciplines, with a particular commitment to amplifying voices and perspectives from the Global South.
We believe in collective growth. Each exchange is shaped by the guest’s specific interests, knowledge, and lived experience, and is developed in dialogue with local artists, artist-run spaces, and cultural institutions whose practices resonate with the guest’s work. This flexible, responsive approach allows each program to remain embedded within the city’s cultural fabric while responding thoughtfully to the guest’s context.
Alongside each incoming exchange, and subject to available resources, Badiyeh Arts aims to develop a reciprocal exchange model by supporting a U.S.–based art professional to travel to the guest’s local context. Participants on both sides are selected simultaneously, allowing dialogue to begin early—before any travel takes place. From this point, they are encouraged to exchange knowledge and support one another in shaping a deeper experience informed by their respective practices, local art ecosystems, and professional networks.
Through this structure, conversations initiated during one phase of the program may continue online and be revisited and deepened in future rounds. In this way, the Exchange Program cultivates an ongoing conversation—one that extends beyond the duration of any single exchange and contributes to long-term relationships, sustained collaboration, and a shared sense of responsibility across contexts.
