Danda Jaroljmek

Director and Curator

Danda Jaroljmek is the Director of Circle Art Gallery and Circle Art Agency, Nairobi, and one of the leading figures in the development of East Africa's contemporary art ecosystem. In 2013, she established Circle Art Agency to provide the first professional art advisory service to collectors and art institutions in East Africa, later launching Circle Art Gallery in 2015 and expanding into a significantly larger gallery space in 2023. Through Circle, she has helped create a strong and sustainable market for East African art by supporting and promoting some of the region's most exciting contemporary artists. Over the past thirteen years, she has curated more than one hundred exhibitions and led Circle's participation in over fifty art fairs.

In 2013, Jaroljmek also launched Art Auction East Africa, the region's only modern and contemporary East African art auction, creating an important platform for the secondary market and encouraging investment in East African art both locally and internationally. Previously, she served as Director of Kuona Trust, Centre for Visual Arts (2004–2012), and as Administrator of the African Arts Trust (2014–2023). She holds a BA in Public Art from Chelsea College of Art, London.
