Negin Mahzoun

Artist and Co-Founder

Negin Mahzoun is a New York–based artist working across textiles, photography, and installation. Her practice explores the intersections of memory, identity, gender, and lived experience through material processes of stitching, layering, and transformation. Drawing on personal archives, cultural histories, and the body as a site of memory, she investigates how experiences are carried, concealed, and transmitted over time. In her work, textiles function not only as material but also as metaphor—simultaneously revealing and obscuring the complex narratives that shape individual and collective identities. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in New York, Paris, London, Mexico City, Tehran, and Rome.

For Mahzoun, artistic practice encompasses not only the making of artworks but also the cultivation of dialogue, collaboration, and meaningful cultural exchange. This commitment led her to co-found Rybon Art Center and become a founding member of Kooshk Artist Residency. She is also the founder of The Bisheh Project, a correspondence-based publishing initiative that explores dialogue, reflection, and exchange through letters. Through Badiyeh Arts, she continues to develop research-driven exchange programs and long-term institutional partnerships that cultivate enduring relationships across art ecosystems.
