Tooraj Khamenehzadeh

Artist and Co-Founder

Tooraj Khamenehzadeh is a New York–based artist working across photography, video, installation, and interdisciplinary projects. Originally trained in theater before turning to photography and moving image, his work combines staged, documentary, and experimental approaches to explore memory, displacement, and transformation. His image-based works reflect on personal and collective narratives, often blurring the boundaries between reality, performance, and fiction. His work has been presented in exhibitions, festivals, and biennials across Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America.

His practice extends beyond the production of artworks to creating the conditions for dialogue, collaboration, and meaningful cultural exchange. This commitment led him to co-found Rybon Art Center and become a founding member of Kooshk Artist Residency. He later served on the Board of Directors of Res Artis, the worldwide network of artist residencies. Through Badiyeh Arts, he continues to develop research-driven exchange programs and long-term institutional partnerships that cultivate enduring relationships across art ecosystems.
